Celebrating an inclusive world

The role of The Centre for Accessibility is to empower the accessibility movement and encourage organisations to implement digital access when designing online resources.

In 2019 we are excited to announce the inaugural Australian Access Awards, an annual event celebrating organisations that have successfully implemented accessibility in their digital campaigns or resources.

Key dates

Call for submissions: Thursday 16 May 2019, Global Accessibility Awareness Day
Nominations close: Friday 30 August 2019
Finalists announced: Monday 21 October 2019
Winners announced: Tuesday 3 December 2019, International Disability Day


Who can enter?

Anyone can nominate a website or app for an Award in the appropriate category. The only condition is that nominees must be from an organisation or government department officially registered in Australia. The organisation being nominated will require an Australian Business Number.


What can you nominate for?

There are 9 categories for the Awards, listed below.

Corporate website of the year (commercial)
Government website of the year
Educational website of the year
Not-for-profit/community website of the year

Corporate app of the year (commercial)
Government app of the year
Educational app of the year
Not-for-profit/community app of the year

Accessibility Initiative of the Year (could be a website, app, project, IoT, video; anything across all sectors)

From the winners in the categories above, the following additional Awards will be presented:

Website of the Year
App of the Year
Accessibility Person of the Year

Nominations are free

We invite any organisations to submit themselves for an Award. We also encourage anyone within the disability community to make a nomination based on their own personal experiences.

Finalists are asked to consider a voluntary administrative fee of $100.



Prizes are being finalised and will be announced shortly. You can sign up to our mailing list to stay up to date with all Awards announcements. All finalists and winners will have the right to use an official Awards badge on their website or app.
