Centre for Accessibility Australia is supporting a special World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Australia Chapter breakfast in Perth this October, exploring some of the challenges at the intersection of technology and disability.
The event will feature Dr Jason White, Chair of the W3C Research Questions Task Force, who will present on “Challenges at the Technology and Disability Intersection”.
Dr White will discuss emerging technologies, changes in the digital landscape and the accessibility considerations that need to be addressed as technology continues to develop. The session will also look at research and user needs that are helping shape the future accessibility of the web and digital platforms.
The W3C Research Questions Task Force operates under the Accessible Platform Architectures Working Group and examines accessibility issues connected with emerging technologies and the requirements of people with disability.
The in-person event will be held at Ruth Faulkner Library in Cloverdale on Tuesday, 13 October, from 9:30am to 11am AWST. It will bring together people working across accessibility, technology, research and web development for a morning of discussion and networking.
The event is hosted by the W3C Australia Chapter and supported by Centre for Accessibility Australia and GrackleDocs. It is also supported through Centre For Accessibility Australia’s Systemic Advocacy grant, provided by the Department of Communities Western Australia.
