Marking Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) last week, Netflix announced a range of new accessibility enhancements designed to help more people around the world discover and enjoy content in the way that works best for them.

The streaming giant said nearly one-third of its global members use accessibility tools and features, highlighting the growing demand for options such as subtitles, audio descriptions and dubbing.

Among the latest updates is Search by Language, a new feature that allows members to search for TV shows and movies based on language preferences and accessibility features directly from the search bar across all devices.

Netflix also reported progress in audio description coverage, adding more than 13,000 hours of audio-described content across 34 languages in 2025, an increase of more than 30% compared with the previous year.

Looking ahead, Netflix plans to expand support for additional languages and introduce American Sign Language (ASL) content to the platform in the near future.

As part of Global Accessibility Awareness Month, Netflix is also showcasing its Amplifying Accessibility Awareness collection, featuring stories that authentically represent the experiences of people with disabilities, including Love on the Spectrum Season 4 and All the Light We Cannot See.
