Centre for Accessibility Australia (CFA Australia) is heading to Broome this September to deliver a free, practical workshop focused on creating clearer and more accessible digital content.
Thanks to sponsorship from the Department of Communities Western Australia, the Plain Language and Accessible Social Media workshop will take place on Thursday, 17 September 2026, from 9:30am to 12:30pm AWST at the Oaks Broome Hotel.
The in-person workshop will give participants practical skills they can use to make their communications more inclusive and accessible to a wider range of people.
The workshop will cover two important areas of accessible communication: plain language and accessible social media.
During the Plain Language Essentials session, participants will learn practical techniques for making written information clearer, simpler and easier to understand. The session will explore how plain language can improve both the accessibility and effectiveness of communications.
The Accessible Social Media session will focus on creating social media content that more people can access and engage with. Topics will include writing useful alt text for images, creating accessible hashtags and other practical accessibility techniques.
The workshop is particularly suited to communications professionals, content creators, social media managers and anyone interested in improving digital accessibility within their organisation or community.
The workshop will be presented by Laetitia Thompson, Digital Access, Training and Inclusion Coordinator at CFA Australia.
Laetitia works to make digital communications more inclusive through accessible, engaging and easy-to-understand content. She facilitates accessible social media, Plain Language and Easy English workshops for organisations across a range of sectors and provides Plain English and Easy English translation services.
