Microsoft has begun rolling out its July 2026 security update for Windows 11, introducing a number of new features and improvements. Among them are two new accessibility features: Screen tint and updated Magnifier controls. The update is being released gradually using Microsoft’s Controlled Feature Rollout (CFR) technology, meaning it may take some time before all users receive the new features.
The July update introduces Screen tint, a new accessibility feature that applies an overlay colour to the screen. According to Microsoft, the feature is designed to reduce eye strain and improve viewing comfort.
Screen tint is available by opening Settings, selecting Accessibility and then choosing Screen tint. Once enabled, users can choose from six preset colour overlays or create a custom colour. The feature also includes a slider to adjust the strength of the overlay. Giving users more options to customise how content is displayed can help make Windows more comfortable and accessible to use for a wider range of people, particularly those with low vision.
The update also introduces more granular controls for Magnifier. Users can now enter exact percentage values instead of using only the zoom buttons to increase or decrease the zoom level.
In addition, the Magnifier settings flyout now allows users to set zoom increments of up to 400 per cent.
Alongside the accessibility features, the July 2026 security update includes a number of other changes across Windows 11. These include the new Point-in-time Restore recovery feature, changes to Windows Update, Widgets, File Explorer, Bluetooth, networking, touchpad settings and other system improvements.
