A research paper written by Dr. Scott Hollier, Dr. Justin Brown, and Dr. Ruchi Permvattana, and presented by Dr. Scott Hollier at the Web4All conference, has won the Best Communications Paper award.

The paper, titled “Accessible Workplace, Inaccessible Workflows: Mandatory Documents, Challenges and Workarounds in Accessible Onboarding,” sheds light on the accessibility challenges faced by Centre for Accessibility Australia (CFA Australia) when onboarding new staff. The paper highlights the inaccessibility of the Australian Taxation Office’s Tax File Declaration form, which posed significant challenges for CFA Australia’s legally blind CEO, Dr. Scott Hollier.

The Web4All conference is a premier international event focused on web accessibility, and the Best Communications Paper award recognises outstanding research in the field. The winning paper demonstrates the importance of accessible document design and the need for government agencies to prioritise inclusivity in their digital workflows.

Congratulations to the authors on this well-deserved recognition!
