The World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Accessibility Initiative (W3C WAI) has updated its Guidance on Applying WCAG 2 to Non-Web ICT (WCAG2ICT). The updates were coordinated with the work to update EN 301 549, the European standard ‘Accessibility requirements for ICT products and services’.
Some of the changes include:
1.4.10 Reflow: Remove Note 5 from non-web documents (2025-08-19)
1.4.4 Resize text: Add note from EN 301 549 (2025-08-12)
2.1.1 Keyboard: Reinstate interpretation for non-web documents (2025-08-12) and updates to notes prompted by the EN 301 549 (2025-07-17)
1.4.1: Make adjustments for platforms providing text scaling (2025-07-31)
1.3.1: Add note for non-web documents from the EN 301 549 (2025-07-03)
3.1.2 Language of Parts: Add modified EN 301 549 note (2025-07-17)
Other changes to improve consistency and clarity
EN 301 549 is relevant to Australia as it is used as an ICT procurement standard, providing a framework for ensuring accessibility in digital products and services
