Target has recently announced a new accessible self-checkout system designed to make shopping easier for customers with disability, especially those who are blind or have low vision in the US. The system features Braille icons, high-contrast buttons, adjustable volume controls, and a custom tactile controller. This user-friendly technology aims to allow customers to navigate their shopping experience independently.

The rollout, which began this holiday season, will continue into early 2026, with the technology being implemented across stores nationwide.

US Target’s initiative could serve as a useful model for Australian retailers looking to improve accessibility in their own stores.
