The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) has announced new updates to the Explainer for WCAG 3 and the WCAG 3 Working Draft for March 2026.

This update outlines changes to the structure and terminology used in the draft, along with new sections on best practices and conformance. It also notes updated guidelines, requirements and assertions in the WCAG 3 draft that have progressed to Developing status.

WCAG 3 is still an in-progress draft and is intended to become a W3C Standard in the coming years. The Goal of WCAG 3.0 is similar to the goals of its previous versions.

This version aims to be more easily understandable for its users and also focuses on the core accessibility requirements for coverage.
