As part of a recent grant funding received from the Australian Government Department of Social Services, Centre for Accessibility Australia (CFA Australia) is pleased to share the commencement of the ‘Critical Pathways – Ensuring Digital Accessibility for People with Disability Facing Domestic Violence’ project. As part of this Australia-first project, CFA Australia will be facilitating the following activities:
- Facilitation of free website accessibility audits for organisations nationwide that provide domestic violence support services.
- Hosting 2 workshops, one in-person and one online, for all organisations in the sector to share findings of common accessibility issues that impact the safety and security of people with disability in accessing critical domestic violence services
- Production of 2 tipsheets – 1 for people with disability and 1 for organisations supporting people with disability facing domestic violence
CFA Australia are commencing this project by opening the EOIs for organisations providing domestic violence support to receive a free website accessibility audit.
By participating in this project, organisations providing domestic violence support services will benefit from a comprehensive evaluation and audit of their current digital accessibility status. You’ll receive an accessibility report of your website in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standard and Australian Human Rights Commission requirements.
Our goal is to enhance website accessibility for people with disability and to ensure equitable access to domestic violence support or resources found online, ensuring that people with disability are not placed in life-threatening danger when looking for help.
If your organisation is keen to take part in this opportunity to critically support people with disability facing domestic violence crises, we invite you to submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) by the 31st of October 2025.
For more information on the accessibility audit and the EOI, please visit our Audits for Organisations Providing Domestic Violence Support Services EOIs page.
CFA Australia would like to thank the Australian Government Department of Social Services for this wonderful opportunity to make difference to the lives of people with disability, and the ability to support the great work being done by organisations addressing domestic violence issues.
