Text says new clinical study by Synchron with Apple reveal can you control digital devices with your mind? The picture is of three different computer devices.

Synchron, a neurotechnology company, has released footage of its work with Apple’s Brain Computer Interface (BCI) technology.

Mark Jackson, a patient living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), can control an iPad with his mind using the Strentrode BCI, which is implanted in a blood vessel above the brain’s motor cortex through a minimally invasive procedure. The technology allows Mark to navigate the iPad’s home screen, open apps, and compose text using his thoughts. A feedback loop optimises the experience, enabling both Mark and the iPad to process his intentions faster.

The Strentrode BCI is a neurotechnology device that enables people with severe motor disorders to interact with digital devices. Synchron is developing this technology in collaboration with Apple, exploring its potential to improve the lives of individuals with disability. The company’s work on BCI technology has shown promising results, and further development could lead to new possibilities for assistive technology and human-computer interaction.
