Apple has released a new ad showcasing its built-in accessibility features, timed to coincide with the International Day of People with Disability on December 3. The commercial, titled “Designed for Every Student,” follows a group of students with disability as they navigate college life using Apple tools like VoiceOver, AssistiveTouch, and Live Captions. The ad highlights several key accessibility features, including:

  • Magnifier App: A student who has low vision, Cassidy, uses the revamped Magnifier app to get a close-up view of the chalkboard on her MacBook using a mounted iPhone or attached USB cameras.
  • Braille Access: Blind Stanford computer scientist, Bhavya, conducts complex calculations by connecting a braille keyboard accessory to his iPad, which fully integrates with the tablet.
  • Sound Recognition: Sophia, a student who is Deaf, uses iPhone’s Sound Recognition to receive important notifications related to calls and other audio.

The ad, directed by Kim Gehrig, features a cast of students singing and dancing to the song “I’m Not Remarkable” by Kittyy & The Class, celebrating their abilities and experiences. The commercial will air across broadcast, digital platforms, and social media, aiming to promote awareness and inclusion of people with disability. This is the second ad from Apple to focus on accessibility, following last year’s Emmy Award-winning “The Greatest”.
