Who is eligible to apply for the Accessible Tech for All program?

All people with disability located in Australia are eligible to apply to the Accessible Tech for All program.

To complete the application form, we ask you to share a little about your disability and how you would benefit from having a laptop.

Are people of all ages eligible to apply?

People of all ages can receive a laptop through the program. However, the application form must be completed by an adult. For applicants under 18, a parent or caregiver can complete the application on their behalf.

How long will it take to receive my laptop?

The time can vary depending on laptop donations and availability from our suppliers.

Once your application has been approved, you can generally expect to receive your laptop within 6 to 8 weeks.

We appreciate your patience while we source and prepare a laptop for you.

What type of laptop will I receive?

We source laptops from a variety of suppliers and donors, so we cannot guarantee a particular brand, model or specification.
Your laptop will:

  • Run Windows 11
  • Include basic office productivity software
  • Be checked to make sure it is working before it is provided to you

As the laptops come from different sources, we cannot guarantee specifications such as processor type, storage capacity, RAM or graphics capability.

What will the condition of the laptop be?

Laptops provided through the Accessible Tech for All program are generally refurbished or end-of-lease devices. This means your laptop has been used previously and may have some cosmetic wear, such as small scratches or marks.

All laptops are checked to make sure they are working before they are provided to recipients.

If I am successful, what will I receive?

You will receive a laptop and a charger.

I need a laptop with specific hardware requirements. Can you provide one?

We cannot guarantee specific hardware or specifications.

The Accessible Tech for All program is designed to provide people with disability with a typical consumer-grade laptop suitable for everyday activities.

If you require specialist hardware, a large amount of RAM, a dedicated graphics card or other specific technology because of your disability, you may need to investigate other support options. For example, the NDIS may be able to fund specialist assistive technology where it relates to your disability and support needs.

We can guarantee that laptops provided through the program will run Windows 11 and have basic office productivity software installed.

How will I receive my laptop?

Laptops for people located in the Perth metropolitan area will need to be collected from the Centre for Accessibility Australia office once they are available. Once you have been notified that your laptop is ready, you will have 5 working days to collect it.

For people located in regional WA or any other Australian state or territory, the laptop will be posted to you. We will contact you when your laptop is ready and provide you with information about delivery.

Australia Post will automatically send tracking information directly to your provided email address. We cannot send tracking numbers separately.

For security, laptops are sent using Signature on Delivery. If you are not home when Australia Post attempts delivery, you should receive a notification from Australia Post with information about how to collect or arrange delivery of your parcel.

Can my laptop be sent to my carer, support worker or another person?

No. The laptop needs to be provided directly to the person with disability who applied to the Accessible Tech for All program.

If you have concerns about receiving your laptop directly because of your disability or access requirements, please contact us to discuss your circumstances.

Can my laptop be delivered to a PO Box?

Yes. Laptops can be delivered to a PO Box.

Do I have to pay for postage?

No. If you are located outside of our collection area, we will cover the cost of postage.

What should I do if there is a problem with my laptop?

If you experience a problem with your laptop, please contact us within 28 days and explain what is happening.
Please include:

  • Your name
  • When you received the laptop
  • A description of the hardware fault
  • Any error messages you are receiving

This information can help us understand the issue and advise you on what to do next.

What should I do if my contact details change?

Please let us know as soon as possible if your phone number, email address, postal address or other important contact information changes while you are waiting for a laptop.

You can contact us at admin@accessibility.org.au or phone 0466 099 101.

Please let us know that you have applied for the Accessible Tech for All program and provide your updated details.

I have applied before. Can I apply again?

No. If you have previously applied to the Accessible Tech for All program, you are not eligible to apply again.

What happens if Centre for Accessibility Australia contacts me and I don’t respond?

It is important to respond when you are contacted about your laptop.

We have a limited number of laptops available and many people waiting for support. If we contact you and do not receive a response within 5 working days, we may need to offer the available laptop to another applicant.

I missed an email or forgot to respond. What should I do?

Contact us as soon as you can.

Let us know that you previously applied for the Accessible Tech for All program and missed our message. We can check the status of your application and let you know what options are available.

We cannot guarantee that the original laptop will still be available, but we encourage you to get back in touch rather than submitting a new application form.
